Aqua And Yellow Bedroom
Hiya Papaya shared pictures of a really pretty house in the Utah Parade of Homes, designed and built by Lindy Allen of Four Chairs Furniture and Cadence Homes….and I'm pretty much crushing on every room. Especially this living room, which is such a perfect combination of a neutral pallet with bright pops of color.
I think I especially like it because I'm decorating my own home with similar colors these days. I LOVE the way turquoise and yellow look together! I also like the way different textures in this room work together. There's the natural, nubby linen on the couches, the sleek, smooth leather on the moroccan pouf, the weathered barn wood paired with modern welded metal–it's a mix that manages to create a lot of movement and interest without being the least bit edgy or in-your-face.
Well, you'll be happy to know I've done the leg work for you, and found five DIY projects that will help you achieve a look similar to the decor of this pretty room. Enjoy!
1. Neutral Wallcolor
The color of the walls in my inspiration photo provides the perfect neutral canvas for the pops of bright color scattered throughout the room. I think it's the perfect greige. It happens to be Sherwin Williams' Agreeable Gray, and you can view more pictures of it in action at On the V Side.
2. Built In Bookshelves
Built ins can be expensive, especially if you don't start out with them in your house. 320 Sycamore shares a reasonable option for getting the look without the hefty price tag.
3. Chrysanthemum Mirror
Little Things Bring Smiles shows you how to DIY a chrysanthemum mirror–like the one in the model home pictured above–out of plastic spoons. You can paint it any color!
4. Industrial Style Coffee Table
Love the combo of industrial style and weathered bard wood? Adventures in Crafting offers a tutorial to help you make your own Anthropologie inspired table.
5. Moroccan Pouf
Poufs like the one in my inspiration photo are extremely popular right now. You can save a bundle–and have them in any color you want–by following the instructions over at Textile Love.
Do you love the living room in my inspiration photo as much as I do? If you know of any additional projects that could help DIYers like me replicate the look of this room, leave a comment with the link!
